CATHOLICS OF IRELAND -This recently formed lay group will hold an Information Meeting in the Lord-Bagenal Hotel Leighlinbridge onWed. Feb.6 at 8pm. The group was formed in 2012 in response to the series of difficulties confronting the Church and the notable absence of a forum for contributions from all the Baptised in the decision making processes of the church .All are welcome to this meeting which will provide a venue for discussion and dialogue on this important topic.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE NEWS - Bagenalstown Men’s Shed experienced a great turn out for the launch and are currently enjoying fantastic turn out daily between the hours of 10.am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday! CONCERT - St Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown is holding a fundraising concert on Friday. March 8. The concert will be held in St Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown. This will be St. Lazerian’s 5th year for their concerts and they always like to have a variety of different themes and different performers. Following feedback
from people who attend the concerts, the organisers have decided that the theme for this year is “Songs from the Musicals”. Director, Marian, is looking for performers who would like to join them on the evening and sing two songs from their favourite musical.

BALLINKILLEN HURLING CLUB NEWS - Dowling Commemorative CupThe 5th annual charity match between the under 25s and the over 25s for the Pat Dowling Commemorative Cup took place on St. Stephens Day. There was an excellent turnout once again. A fitting legacy to Pat Dowling and an enjoyable way to end a very good year for the Club. It was great to see overseas players home for the event and playing well. A word of thanks to all who gave their time, both players and supporters and to Ann and the Dowling family for providing much appreciated refreshments.
JUINIOR HURLER OF THE YEAR - Congratulations to James Cox who won the award for Carlow Junior Hurler of the Year. James was presented with his award at the ‘Carlow Sports Stars’ function in the Seven Oaks Hotel on Jan 19.
BALLINKILLEN HURLING CLUB DINNER DANCE - The Club’s dinner dance in conjunction with St. Fortchern’s Ladies football club takes place on Saturday. Jan 26 in the Talbot Hotel, Carlow. This is an event not to be missed with our Senior Hurlers as Kilkenny League winners, Junior hurlers are Carlow championship winners, Under 21s are also County champions and Carlow football champions- St. Fortchern’s ladies also receive their medals.
