PRESENTATION SISTERS 175 YEARS IN BAGENALSTOWN - This year Bagenalstown Parish will celebrate the Presentation Sisters 175 years of providing primary and secondary education in the town. This is an incredible achievement and to honour this significant milestone and give thanks, there will be a day of celebration and thanksgiving on Saturday, May 19 next.

This will commence, in the afternoon, with the opening of the Convent Memorial Garden in the BEAM centre. The area of the old convent and national school which is now occupied by BEAM, was donated to the organisation by the Presentation Sisters. In recognition of this and as a token of appreciation, the grounds have been developed and landscaped and are truly majestic. This has been done as a tribute to the Sisters.

Pride of place is the statue of Our Lady which resided in the Sister’s convent garden and which was the focal point during the annual May Procession of past years - this used be one of the highlights of the school year. A photograph exhibition will also be available and refreshments will be provided.

The Queen of the Universe National School will also host a photograph exhibition and people will be free to visit.

At 6pm there will be a Celebratory Mass in St Andrew’s Church. Following this Mass there will be a pageant by the students of Our Lady Queen of the Universe School and a slide show in the Presentation De La Salle College where refreshments will be provided.

This promises to be a parish day of joyful celebration and thanksgiving for the Presentation Sisters. A warm welcome is extended to everyone to attend all or part of this event so please pass on the invitation. No doubt many school memories and stories will be exchanged.
