Workshop - The Sisters of St John of God are sponsoring a workshop in the Parish Centre, Loughboy, Kilkenny on Saturday, May 4 (10am - 4.30pm). The workshop is entitled ‘The Powers of the Universe as revealed in the life of Jesus’. €10 fee with tea and coffee provided. Tullaroan Golf Society - The first outing was to Rathdowney Golf Club on Saturday. Twenty-four took part and the winners were lst Ned Sweeney, 2nd Eddie Carter, 3rd. Brian Dillon. Category winners lst Brendan Roberts, 2nd John Connolly and third Frank Skelton. The longest drive went to Brian Dillon while Edward Holland won nearest the pin.
The prizes were presented by society captain Dick Walshe (The Village) in Connolly’s Lounge. Dick thanked Mary Kenny for all her work as secretary over the past fourteen years and wished her the best in the future. Mary is still actively involved in the Tullaroan Golf Classic where she is Secretary. The classic will be held in the Rathdowney Golf Club on July 18 & 19.
Tullaroan Active Retirement Group - The group will meet today Wednesday, April 10 in the community Centre at 2pm.
Camogie - Tullaroan intermediates went under to St Anne’s in the league held at Galmoy sports grounds on Sunday.
Social Dance Night - As a fundraiser for the ongoing maintenance of Tullaroan Community Centre a social dance night will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at the centre. Admission €8 and music by ‘The Checkers’.
John Murray Walking Club - RTE’s John Murray Walking Club hold their next walk on Sunday next in Cullahill. Events get underway at 11am with the launch of the South Laois Tourism Trails Brochure and Tourist/Heritage Brochure the official walk start is 12 noon.
Whist Drive - A whist drive commencing at 9pm will be held on Wednesday, April 10 in the Community Centre.
Flora Women’s Mini Marathon - Terry O’Flynn is organising a group to take part in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon for Irish Premature Babies. In conjunction with this a Coffee Morning and Cake Sale will take place on Friday, April 12 from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Lohs Chinese Restaurant 27 Parliament Street (opposite the Watergate Theatre).
Church Door Collection - The annual collection for special educational needs will be held this weekend. Last year the committee supported projects for 66 children at the Mother of Fair Love School where 22 parishes of the Diocese are represented.
Junior Hurling - On Sunday at Cloneen, Tullaroan junior hurlers played out a draw against Cloneen in the junior league.
