RIVER RANGERS V LIONS B.- Rangers travelled to Durrow last Sunday morning (7 April) looking to continue the good run and got off to a perfect start when a break and cross from Tommy Manogue found Jason Darmody in the box and the Ranger’s striker volleyed to the net.
Rangers doubled their lead shortly after when a long kick from the keeper was controlled by Gearoíd Murphy who took a touch before letting fly and watching the ball sail over the keeper to make it 0-2 to Rangers.
Rangers then had a scare when a long kick was headed back to keeper who was slightly flat footed and allowed the striker get in. In the scramble the Lion’s Striker reacted first and finished to the net despite been fouled.
Rangers did not sit back but continued to press for another goal and they got their reward just before the break when jimmy Murphy collected the ball on the left and went on a run into the box. He drew the keeper and clipped the ball over him to make half time score 1-3 to Rangers.
Lions pushed forward in the second half but never really threatened the Ranger goal and it was Rangers who created the most chances. J.J. Corrigan, T. Manogue and J. Gleeson all had chance and Tommy also had a strong penalty claim waved away.
Next up was Ben Hayes who took a chance and followed a loose back pass to keeper and just directed his effort wide. Lions B were reward a penalty later on which was scored to make final score 2-3 to Rangers.
Team: M. Corrigan, P. Dalton, S. Murphy, C. O’Grady, M. Hogan, G. Murphy, B. Hayes, T. Manogue, J.. Murphy, T. Ryan, J. Darmody
