A total of forty girls were present at the GAA grounds on a dry, bright and breezy evening to begin preparations for the upcoming campaign. There was a marvellous sense of purpose about the action, as the players in their colourful jerseys and helmets dashed about the pitch. Club officers and committee members were present, along with several parents, to watch proceedings and assist as required. The enthusiasm and energy of the players was a delight to see, as they practiced various skills and drills. The Under 10s were in the charge of Aidan Morrissey and Martin Foley, while the Under 14s were coached by former Kilkenny senior player Sandra Gleeson, Caroline Phelan and Brendan Walshe. Training continues every Tuesday, by kind permission, at the St. Patrick’s club grounds and new players will be very welcome. The Under 14s will be in action on May 8th in the opening round of their League campaign.

TEAM NEWS Brookville 8: St John’s 1

Brookville made it two wins on the trot with a runaway victory at home against St John’s at home. On a very windy morning Brookville started extremely well and pressed the away team. It wasn’t long before Brookville were ahead with two goals from John Holland and Billy Irwin. From then on it was all Brookville. In fairness to St John’s they never gave up and kept fighting to the very end. But with John Holland and Billy Irwin completing their hat tricks plus goals from Ciaran stone and Gary Hogan and a man of the match performance from Eddie Thornton (who seems to have finally got over the jet lag) there was never any question who the winner would be. Scorers for Brookville, John Holland 3, Billy Irwin 3, Ciaran Stone and Gary Hogan 1 each. Man of the match: Eddie Thornton

Team: JJ O’Sullivan, Eddie Thornton, Daire Stone, Michael Stapleton, Ciaran Stone, Robert O’ Keefe, Billy Irwin, David Farrell, John Holland, Gary O’ Keefe, Anthony Butler, SUBS -Paddy Rudkins, Gary Hogan, Johnny Kavanagh and Shane Phelan.
