Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership

The Foróige DRUM Youth Centre would like to extend huge congratulations to all the young people who completed their Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action which is accredited by NUI Galway. 24 young people travelled from Kilkenny to the Galway campus on Saturday 19th October to attend the Graduation Ceremony for this course. These exceptional young people participated in this part time course and completed it within eight months. The course is divided into three modules. The first two were facilitated by trained Foróige staff each containing 15 hours of work. The third module involved self directed voluntary and community projects by the young people.

Another hard working young man is Ben Thompson who is organising a charity gig in aid of the CBS Zambia Immersion Project. This will be held here in The DRUM Youth Centre, MacDonagh Junction, for 3rd to 6th years, on Wednesday October 30th from 7 – 9pm. €5 donation on the door. Young people can look forward to performances from local talent: Feibhar Baldwin-Wall, James Corcoran, Ben Thompson, Aoife Doyle and more.

During the mid-term break Drop In Youth Café will be open to young people in 3rd – 6th year on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4.30 – 6.30pm. There will be separate groups for 1st & 2nd Year Boys and Girls on Tuesday evenings. Spaces are limited so please contact staff to book your place.
