Young people, volunteers and staff at the Foróige DRUM Youth Project & Health Café were delighted to hear that we will be the recipients of an award for youth work at this year’s RehabCare Kilkenny People of the Year awards.
It is fantastic to be recognised in such a positive light and we would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved, in any way, over the past four years.
There are a number of special people who deserve our particular gratitude and they are our volunteers. Foróige has been led by volunteers since it was established in 1952 and we know the value of their contribution to the youth in our communities.
In the words of Elizabeth Andrew “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart”. So to our volunteers, thank you most sincerely. You bring so much talent and energy to the centre and we could not provide the service we do without you.
So when can young people get to meet these fantastic adult volunteers?!
Drop In Youth Cafe is open for 3rd to 6th years on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4.30-6.30pm. There are groups for 1st & 2nd Year Boys and Girls on Tuesday evenings. Spaces in these groups are limited so please contact staff to book your place.
The DRUM also offers a free and confidential counselling service for adolescents and their families in the Co. Kilkenny area. Contact Willie Egan on 087 6329622.
To get involved with the Foróige DRUM Youth Project, MacDonagh Junction just call up to the centre and speak to one of the staff or adult volunteers about what activity is suitable for you. Parental consent is required.
