Jewellers create timeless piece for O’Hara’s Age-Friendly launch
IT isn’t every day an artist is asked to create a piece of jewellery for a celebrated film star, but that’s exactly what happened to a pair of Castlecomer-based jewellers last week.
Dani and Tia Vellani, whose studio is located in the Castlecomer Estate Yard, were commissioned by Kilkenny’s Age-Friendly County initiative to create a brooch to be presented to Maureen O’Hara. The actress is set to be the guest of honour at the launch today (Wednesday) of the Kilkenny Age-Friendly County Strategy at the Ormonde Hotel.
The silver brooch created by Tia and Dani is inspired by the Kilkenny Age-Friendly County logo. It is due to be presented to Ms O’Hara at the launch ceremony, which will be followed by high tea and dancing.
