The charity Enable Ireland will receive a boost from the effort of two friends, Mark Bradley and Martin Breen.

Having had family members who receive support from this charity, the pair is in the middle of a 1,027-kilometre cycle around Ireland to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Setting out from their home in Portlaoise on August 14, they are spending 16 days on the road with just two days of rest.

On Sunday night they spent their first night in Kilkenny, where their accommodation was sponsored by the Club House Hotel, before they headed on to Waterford.

From there they are travelling to Midleton, Clonakilty, Bantry, Killarney, Listowel, Lahinch, Salthill, Westport, Ballina, Carrick on Shannon, Athlone and back to Portlaoise. It’s a total of 1,027 kilometres, all going according to plan.

The two have already surpassed their goal of raising e2,000 and are doing further street collections along the way.
