The Hooley in the Hills - On Friday 3rd August country singer Lisa McHugh will be playing in the Tullaroan sports grounds with doors opening at 9pm. Tickets €15.00 and on Sunday 5th August the ‘Zoots’ will be playing at the Barbecue commencing at 9pm, tickets €18.00. You can purchase tickets from any member of the hurling , camogie, soccer club or at Delaney’s Shop, Tullaroan Village. Volunteers are needed to help out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Your support for both events would be very much appreciated as all profits will go to clearing the debt on the building at the sports grounds.

Hurling - The Tullaroan senior and U14 hurling teams took part in a centenary tournament organised by the Birr, Co. Offaly hurling club on Saturday last. After a hard fought game the senior team went under by two points to the All Ireland club champions Lough Eil Shamrocks. The U14 team won their first game and were beaten in their second game. Tommy Walshe, Tullaroan Village took part in the long puck competition.

All Ireland Quarter Final - Tommy Walsh, Mount Gale was on the Kilkenny senior hurling team that beat Limerick in the All Ireland Quarter Final held at Thurles on Sunday last. Tommy received man of the match as he put in an all star performance.

Deep Sympathy - The death took place following an accident on Thursday last of Chris Murphy, Liss, Tularoan, late of 7 Cypress Green, Loughboy, Kilkenny. Chris is deeply regretted by his fiancee, Fiona, son,Cillían, parents, Paddy and Teresa, sister, Joanne, brother, David, grandparents, Fiona’s parents John and Rose Hall, future brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, relatives and friends, After Requiem Mass at the Church of the Assumption on Monday last his remains were removed to the Tullaroan cemetery for burial. May he rest in peace.

Parish Pastoral Council - The Council will meet in the Parochial House at 8pm tonight Wednesday 1st August.

First Friday Visits - Fr. P. Guilfoyle P.P. will visit the home bound on Friday at the usual time.

Whist Drive - A whist drive will be held in the Tullaroan Community Centre on Friday 3rd August commencing at 9pm. All proceeds will go to the Tullaroan Variety Group

Recently Deceased - James (Jimmy ) Butler who died in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on Thursday last was originally from Upper Tullaroan. Jimmy farmed in Tullaroan until 1969 and after the death of his wife Mary he along with his family moved to Tullamore where he set up home and lived there until his death. He was a man of very quiet disposition and was very popular by all who knew him. After Requiem Mass on Saturday last in the Church of The Assumption, Tullamore his remains were removed to St. Clonminch Cemetery for burial. Jimmy is survived by his sons Paddy, Tony, Tom, Liam, James and John, daughters Maura and Anna. sons in law, daughter in law, grandchildren, great gran children, sister Nancy, step children Michael, Tony, Jimmy Angela, Theresa, Caroline and Jane, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
