Goresbridge Senior Citizens had a great day out on Wednesday last on their Summer Outing. They visited Farmleigh House, did a bit of shopping in Liffey Valley and stopped for dinner on the way home. Well done to the organisers.
HANDBALL NEWS - On Saturday in Garryhill the Leinster Juvenile Finals in 60x30 took place. In the U15 doubles grade Sean Carey (Goresbridge) and partner Dylan Caulfield (Kilfane) played some very nice handball to win the Leinster title beating Wexford. The KK duo led all the way and won in two straight games. Well done lads and best of luck in the All Ireland semi-finals. At U16 doubles it was JJ English (Goresbridge) and partner Emett Landy (Windgap) . They played Meath and on this occasion the Meath duo were too good on the day and won in two games. Hard luck lads and well done on getting to final. Also hard luck to Stephen Barcoe who went down in his All Ireland semi-final.

BORRIS COUNTRY FAIR - Borris Country Fair takes place this weekend Sat and Sun in Borris House, it promises to be a wonderful event with lots for everyone to do.
SERVERS OUTING - The Servers Outing will take place on Thursday August 16 to Tramore, if you are a server and would like to go you need to leave your name into the sacristy or at the Parish Office at 059 9775180 immediately.

REGATTA - The annual regatta takes place in Graignamanagh this weekend Sunday and Monday, a great way to spend a couple of hours.
BLACKTHORN STICK - If anyone picked up a blackthorn walking stick on the Barrow Line from Goresbridge to the pink house the owner would really be grateful to get it back, it is just not a stick it is of sentimental value to this person. If you found it you can leave it into the Coffee Dock.
CONCERT IN IONAD DARA - The annual concert run by the committee of Ionad Dara will take place on Friday August 31, Lumíere, Pauline Scanlon and Éilis Kennedy from Dingle will provide the entertainment and are considered to be two of the finest voices in Ireland. They will be supported by the widely acclaimed Oirachtas Sean-no’s dance champions, Colm, Padraig and Gearóid Devane from Carna, Connemara. HENNESSY’S GARDEN CENTRE - has a terrific sale on at the moment and it is good to support local business so if it is indoor or outdoor plants, shrubs you need, or new pots it’s worth taking a trip up there.

CONVENT WALL PAINTED - It’s amazing what a couple of coats of paint can do. Last week the convent wall was painted by our Fás team and it looks so much better for it, thanks to Matthew and Malcolm.
KAYAKING THIS WEEK - This week sees morning and afternoon sessions of kayaking taking place in Goresbridge, it is a wonderful opportunity for our young people. 22 young people will take part and this has been organised and funded by Kilkenny Leader Partnership in association with Goresbridge Rural Development.
SPLIT THE POT RESULTS - This week’s split the pot of €107 was won by Jacquie Barcoe, Barrowmount Drive, Kathleen O’ Neill, Barrowmount Drive won €20 and Paddy Quinn won €20, the draw took place in the Barrow Breeze and the winning envelopes were picked by Tom Cleere.
