It has over the years evolved into a Community Care, Safety and Crime Prevention Programme for rural communities. Each Community Alert group is organized on a recognized local community basis and has an elected committee and an associated Liaison Garda. The Community Alert volunteers regularly visit the Older Person in their own home to alleviate loneliness and isolation.
