Muckalee: Operation Transformation starts January

Muckalee Childcare Community Project-Muckalee Childcare Community Project has joined up with RTE’s Operation Transformation as one of their groups. This is a weight loss programme, as a group in Operation Transformation there will be a donation of €20 and we will carry out an eight-week programme incorporating a weekly weigh-in and a diet and exercise plan. This programme will commence on the 7th of January. It is hoped that this will bring the community together and everyone will feel fitter and healthier by the end of it. S.O.S. Kilkenny-S.O.S. is a Voluntary Organisation in Kilkenny for adults with a mild-moderate intellectual disability, providing day services, respite and residential care. We are looking for families or individuals (hosts) to provide short breaks (day/overnight/weekend) in their home for adults from our services. Each host is matched with one person from S.O.S. and an expense allowance is paid for each break provided.

We are also looking for volunteers to support us in providing extra social and recreational activities for people attending S.O.S. in the evening time or weekends.

Christmas Mass times-Monday- Christmas Eve: Muckalee at 7pm., Coon at 7.30pm, Ballyfoyle at 8.30pm. Christmas Day: Ballyfoyle at 9.45 am, Coon at 11am, Muckalee at 11am.

The Spirit of Christmas CD-Enjoy the beautiful voices of the children of The Blind School of Mombasa, who touched the hearts of the Irish Volunteers when they built a new home for 140 children in 2012. Included in that group were two locals; Billy Murphy, Muckalee and Michael Stapleton, Ballyfoyle. All proceeds from this CD will go directly to help the children’s educational and medical needs.

Muckalee Parish Carol Service-The annual parish choir service will take place in St Bridget’s Church Coon on Friday December 21st at 7 pm. This event will involve the church choirs from Ballyfoyle, Coon and Muckalee. This event has been running for a few years and has been a highlight of parish life. Adm is free

St. Martins Hurling AGM-This years Agm will take place on Fri 11th  January in Muckalee Community Centre at 8pm.  Nomination Papers are now available in the 3 Churches. All papers correctly signed to be returned to Secretary Lillian Holohan by Fri 28th December.
