Tullaroan: Friendship and chat in community centre

Minor League Final-The Tullaroan Minor hurling team had a great win over Dunamaggin in the minor roinn c league final held at the Dicksboro sports grounds on Saturday afternoon last. This was a very well contested game from start to finish where there was never more than a couple of points between the teams throughout the hour. At half time Tullaroan were leading by one point and for the third quarter honours were even, in the final quarter Tullaroan got the better of Dunamaggin where they won by six points, the final score being Tullaroan 0-16 to Dunamaggin 0-10. This now completes the double for this team where they also won the championship.

Christmas Draw-Tullaroan hurling club Christmas draw will take place on Friday 21st. December at 8pm in the club rooms, please have all tickets back to club officers on the night.

The hurling club would like to wish all its members and supporters a very happy Christmas.

Christmas Visitation-Fr. P. Guilfoyle P.P. will visit the home bound on Friday 21st December after 9.30am Mass. If you know of anyone who would like a visit please let Fr. Guilfoyle know.

Boost for Prague House-Prague house in Freshford have received a welcome boost as Christmas approaches. Minister Phil Hogan has revealed that €202,216 has been paid to Prague House. This includes €65,000 for fire safety requirements and €137,216 for additional works carried out by Community Home.

Come Home To Tullaroan-A calendar entitled ‘come home to Tullaroan’ with a D.V.D. by Dan Grace and featuring Michael O’Muirchartaigh unveiling the 1984 plaque in Tullaroan Village is on sale in local shops,from Betty Payne, Breda Grace, or Helen Lanigan. This will make a perfect gift for everyone and all proceeds will go to the Heritage Centre.

Soccer Club-Both the men’s and women’s teams are top of their leagues for the Christmas. The women’s team with 3 wins from 3 and the men with 7 wins and a draw in their 8 games so far. There is still a long way to go but it has been a good start to the league session.

Married V Singles-The married v singles game will take place at 12 noon on St. Stephens day in the sports grounds. Everyone welcome to run off the Christmas turkey. Drinks afterwards in Connolly’s.

Whist Drive-A whist drive will be held in the Tullaroan Community Centre on Wednesday 19th December at 8.30pm. Top score €50.00 and all are welcome.

St. Kieran’s College Students-Pictured are two students from St. Kierans College; Dillon Dooley and James Campion With Ruth O’ Gorman Nurse Manager in Kilkenny Alzheimer Day Centre. Students Dillon Dooley and James Campion display a reminiscence project that they completed with the clients of the Kilkenny Alzheimer Day Centre. The students put together information and facts provided to them by the clients in the centre. Some of the topic covered include; famous buildings, sport music and dances. One of the clients at the day centre remembered attending a Dickie Rock Concert and said ‘We loved Dickie, we would have died for him’.

Tullaroan Active Retirement Association-Please join us for an afternoon of friendship and chat in the community centre at 2pm on Wednesday 19th December.

Have You Time To Spare- S.O.S. is a Voluntary Organisation in Kilkenny for adults with a mild-moderate intellectual disability,

providing day services, respite and residential care. We are looking for families or individuals (hosts) to provide short breaks (day/overnight/weekend) in their home for adults from our services. Each host is matched with one person from S.O.S. and an expense allowance is paid for each break provided. We are also looking for volunteers to support us in providing extra social and recreational activities for people attending S.O.S. in the evening time or weekends.
