Johnstown - Galmoy boys win schools handball

Congratulations - Congratulations to the Galmoy Boys who won the schools handball competition in OLoughlin Gaels Club, Kilkenny. In the under 11 singles Billy Drennan was the winner. In the under 13 doubles the winners were Patrick Doyle and Conor Drennan.

Billy Drennan was the winner in the under 10 All Ireland Racquetball competitions. This is the second year Billy has won this title. Considering the boys have been playing handball for such a short time this is a great achievement . Well done boys.

St Kieran’s Athletic Club - Congratulations to Mateusez Pietrzykouski, Lauren Hayde, Nonie Lavelle and Caoilinn Smith all of whom perticipated in the first leg of the “A” Championships at the Watershed, Kilkenny on May 5th. All four did extremely well with Matt taking home 3rd in the U16 boys 100m and 700m and Lauren receiving 2nd in the U17girls long jump. The second leg of the Championships takes place on Sun May 12thso we wish aall those participating the best of luck. Training continues Wednesdays from 6.30 to 7.30 and Sundays from 12.15 to 13.45. All are welcome.

Whist Drive - A whist drive will be held in St Mary,s Hall next Friday night May 10th at 8.30. During the summer months the series of Summer whist drives will continue on the second Friday of each month.

Emeralds Camogie Club - A cookery demonstration by well known free lance chef Edward Hayden from TV3 Ireland AM will be held in the Community Hall Urlingford on Thursday night May 16th at 8pm. Exhibition - A Ceramic Exhibition will be held in “The Black Door” Johnstown on Saturday and Sunday May 11/12. The exhibition will showcase work from this years classes. Do call in well worth a look.

Church Gate Collection - The Irish Cancer Society will hold a church gate collection on the weekend May 18/19. Your support would be appreciated.

Spa Development/Fenians Lotto - April 29th...Numbers drawn were 2,5,19,20. There was no jackpot winner and three match 3 winners Kathleen Phelan c/o Johnny Murphy, Jennifer an d Lauren Dermody c/o Jennifer Dermody and Friday Blues c/o Barrys and the winning promoter was Johnny Murphy. This weeks draw is in Barrys (Spa group) and the jackpot is €2,600.

Plane crash - Next January will be the 70th Anniversary of an American B17 Flyin g Fortress Plane which crash landed in a field near Johnstown. There was nobody on board and no injuries. A day of commeration is already being organ ised by Susan Garrett . Anyone who may have any stories etc to relate and would like to share contact Susan at 0877926989.
