BOOST FOR M&A COACHES - This week we focus on a very welcome double boost for the general public and a local Bus Company. The National Transport Authority has completed the assessment of the tenders received for bus services to be operated between Urlingford and Portlaoise without a subsidy and Michael Dowling, Ballyragget had the successful tender. “This is a huge boost to rural North Kilkenny and all of the commuters who use the daily service “said Cllr. Maurice Shortall who has been to the fore in the Action Group. “We have had lengthy discussions with officials of CIE and the NTA, and it’s great to have a positive outcome to report. The service had been withdrawn but people power under the stewardship of Michael G. Phelan was central to achieving a resolution. I said from day one that opportunity could arise locally and that position was vindicated when M & A Coaches, Ballyragget (Michael Dowling) were announced as the successful tenderer.” concluded Cllr. Shortall.
