Opposition disappoint, but Rower happy with second win

It WAS brutally windy in Páirc na Reatha on Sunday afternoon where the Rower-Inistioge, seeking their second win on the bounce, nobbled a fancied Mullinavat by 1-10 to 0-7 in what was an entirely a forgettable experience for most of the fine gathering at this lively intermediate hurling league clash.

Wow! It was some lark in our ’Park

When Bruce Springsteen arrives in Nowlan Park later on this summer, he’ll have the advantage of the pitch as an extra crowd space. The crowd at Sunday’s National Hurling League final didn’t get the pitch, but they filled every available seat and made their presence felt on it.

All grand, even with the boss

WHETHER or not the shadow of Brian Cody loomed large over Nowlan Park on Sunday, the manager need not have worried - everything was running smoothly.

For happy man Joe life has been a journey of pleasant memories and delightful discoveries

Like a good accountant, it is often times better to start at the finishing line figure than traipse through the labours of getting to that point from the gun, writes Barrie Henriques.

It was a memorable day for thrilled captain Colin

IN A glittering career Colin Fennelly has seen pretty much everything the hurling world has to offer, but even he was able to enjoy a new experience in Sunday’s enthralling League final win over Tipperary.

City retain Feile title

’Lockes had edge in tight battle

A BLEND of youth and experience can be vital in victory. John Lockes (Callan) got the right mix of both ingredients as they got the better of Bennettsbridge in the junior hurling league clash at Bennettsbridge on Sunday (1-8 to 0-8).

A final to give us glimpse of future

THEY are the teams of the moment, and many a shrewd observer expects them to be among the last ones standing come championship time too, so Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League final could be a preview of important things to come.

The ’Vat won - and they could have fared better

It was difficult to analyse this game from the point of view that for most of the game, the winners never looked like losing, but yet at the finish they could so easily have done so. What does that tell me, I ponder?

’Town take up where they left off

All-Ireland club junior hurling champions, Thomastown continued where they left off in February in Croke Park, when scoring a convincing win over Conahy Shamrocks in the opening round of the intermediate league.
