Handball action rolls on and on
There was plenty before, and there is plenty more action to come on the handball front at home and at provincial and national level for Kilkenny players.
All-Ireland adult and juvenile semi-final results:
O35B singles Stephen Barcoe (Goresbridge) bt Glen Walsh (Roscommon). In the first game Stephen won convincly. In the second game the Roscommon man came out determined, but Stephen never gave up and won the game, winning overall in two straight games to book a place in the All-Ireland final.
Under-14 singles, Conor Murphy (Kells) bt Diarmuid Mulkerrins (Galway). In the first game Conor played some great handball, winning convincly. The second game was evenly contested with both players giving their all. Mulkerrins won. In the tie break Conor won to earn a place in the All-Ireland final.
In girls under-15 singles, Aoife Holden (Kilfane ) was defeated by Eimear Ni Bhiadha (Galway).
In girls under-15 doubles, Caoimhe O’Shea and Aine Dunne (Windgap) got a bye through to the All-Ireland final.
Under-16 doubles, Padraig Cooney (Clogh) and Dylan Caulfielf (Kilfane) bt Cian O Conghaile and Jamie Kelly (Galway). In the first game the Kilkenny pair started strongly but the Galway pair kept fighting came back and won the first game. Great serves and rallies earned the Cats victory in the second. The tie break was level at 9 all before the Kilkenny boys got in to serve. They won the next two aces to win the game.
In girls under-17 doubles, Aoilean Hennessy and Denise Love (Clogh) got a bye through to the All-Ireland final.
In under-17 doubles, Conor Lyons (St Canice’s) and Mark Dowling (Mothel) lost to Conor Burke and Cormac Moran (Mayo).
