Change of days for Spring Series

WITH the Thyestes Chase taking centre-stage at Gowran Park tomorrow (Thursday), the golf club’s Spring Series has been moved to Friday and Saturday for this week.

Mick Bolger secured top spot in last week’s Spring Qualifying Series. It was a tale of two nines for the Thomastown man, who scored 24 points on the front nine holes and 15 returning home.

Mick’s 39-point total was one better than new member Stephen Byrne who, playing off 8, carded a good score of 38. David McEvoy took the remaining weekly spot for the final, which will be held at the end of March.

RESULTS - Results, men’s 11 hole singles, January 21/22: 1 David McEvoy (16), 26pts c/b; 2 Joe Farrell (11), 26pts c/b; 3 Karol O’Neill (19), 26pts.

Results, ladies weekly 11 hole singles competition: 1 Kerri Bolger (26), 25pts; 2 Kate Hennessy (10), 25pts; 3 Gay Latchford (29), 23pts.

Results, Spring Qualifying Series, January 19/20: 1 Michael Bolger (15), 2 Stephen Byrne (8), 3 David McEvoy (16).

CLUB DIARY - The finishing touches are being put to the club diary, which will go to print shortly. They will be available to collect from the pro shop in the next couple of weeks.

DIARY - The popular Open Fourball competition will begin its 2012 campaign on Sunday, February 5. The timesheet is now open. Entry fee is E20 for visitors, E5 for members.

The Senior Open Singles competition returns on Tuesday, February 7. Entry fee is E15 for visitors, E5 for members.
