Gowran strike gold in Kilmacow

KILMACOW was at the heart of Kilkenny’s athletics scene for the second weekend in succession as the community’s Sports Complex played host to the county cross-country championships.

Athletes enjoyed a perfect day for running, with the Winter sunshine and an excellent course adding to the event.

The B championships for juveniles threw up some exciting races and close finishes, with the St Kieran’s club from Johnstown once again participating in the county championships. St Kieran’s provided the winner of the boys’ under-7 race with Daniel Hanrahan claiming the honours. Gowran teams also did well, winning three sets of juvenile team golds. The club also won team gold in the junior men’s event.

Thanks went to host club St Senan’s and the community in Kilmacow for the use of their facilities.
