National championships coming to the city

THE 'Budo' JKA Karate Club, Kilkenny recently hosted a squad training event in the Loreto Sports Hall, Kilkenny.
Over 40 students were put through their paces as chief instructor for the association, Sensei Noel Casey drilled them in basics, kata and sparring drills.
The Kilkenny Club will again host the prestigious JKA Ireland national championships in Kilkenny on November 21. The event, which was run here two years ago, was very successful and attracted participants from all over Ireland.
The local club are now in serious training for the event and hope to do even better than previous years and bring back lots of medals.
The club train twice weekly in the Loreto Sports Hall, Granges Road, Kilkenny. Classes start at 7.30pm. Both adults and children are catered for. Beginners classes for children, teenagers, adults and families start next week. Call 086-3668669 for details.
