INTER-CLUB GOLF: After their great victories in the Jimmy Bruen Shield to date, Gowran Park now head to Dunlaoire on Saturday to play in the Leinster semi-final. If they manage to beat New Forrest (8.40am) they will then have the opportunity to win a pennant in the final which will be played later in the day (2.30pm).
Members should remember that they can be part of club teams. There are various competitions that cater for all handicap ranges. The only real stipulation common to most of these inter-club competitions is that you have played at least four qualifying competitions in the previous year.
Now is the time to make sure you are eligible for next year. Qualifying competitions means singles competitions where your handicap can be adjusted so Winter ones don’t count.
MIDWEEK 9 HOLE: The 9-hole competition continues throughout the Summer. It is a great social evening and offers the chance to get some practice in before the more serious competition on the weekend.
Just show up on the Wednesday (around 5pm) and you’ll always get someone to join up with. There is also a special 9-hole menu laid on in the bar upstairs afterwards.
Monthly prize giving takes place after the 9-hole this week.
