Shefflin and Tennyson selected as Kilkenny announce team
Brian Cody has announced The Cats final fifteen as Kilkenny bid to make history this Sunday - aiming for their fifth successive senior hurling title.
In what all Kilkenny people will hope is an historic weekend, the Kilkenny management have named the side after training on Friday night in Nowlan Park and there is only one change from the team that defeated Cork.
John Tennyson comes in at centre back, returning from injury and further news that all Kilkenny fans wanted to hear was that Henry Shefflin starts - and at centre forward.
Thousands once again gathered to give the team the traditional send off as the final preparations were put in place for the trip to Croke Park and the clash once again with rivals Tipperary.
Kilkenny (SH v Tipperary) - PJ Ryan; John Dalton, Noel Hickey, Jackie Tyrrell; Tommy Walsh, John Tennyson, JJ Delaney; James Cha Fitzpatrick, Michael Fennelly; TJ Reid, Henry Shefflin, Eoin Larkin; Eddie Brennan, Richie Power, Aidan Fogarty.
The only change revolves around injured centre back Brian Hogan, who broke a finger during training within the last two weeks and was ruled out of selection when the extent of the injury was discovered.
