Glamour and glitz at fashion show

500 people watched 16 models showcase 190 looks from 20 Kilkenny retailers at the Kilkenny Fashion Week Gala Fashion Week last Wednesday night.

Former Kilkenny Rose Sinead de Butleir was there along with models Roisin Trait and Grace O’Mahony. It was very much a ladies night with only a sprinkling of men in the audience.

Chairperson of Kilkenny Fashion Week Moira Fulton thanked the committee for their trojan work behind the scenes and also commended the stylists Catherine Condell and Sinead Keenan. “I want to thank all the committee members who put in a huge amount of hard work and dedication to ensure that the second Kilkenny Fashion Week is a great success,” she said.

The event was a glamourous event and there was wine, tapas and goodie bags along with spot prizes from Lancome.

Some of Ireland’s top models took part in the show including Karen Fitzpatrick, Sarah Morrissey, Yomiko Chen and Alison Canavan.

Margaret Harkin of Paco said that it was great to see High Street fashion on the catwalk.

“It really is a fabulous event and it is unique for all these local people retail working in to come together and make it happen,” she said.

In the first half fashion was showcased from Pauls, Vila, Sally West, Bourkes, Carraig Donn, Dame, Paco, Voila/Shoes4U, Briella, Kilkenny Design and the Grafton Academy of Dress Designing with fashion from Goods, Vero Moda, Peaches, Belle Femme, Rumour, Jo Duggan, Mimi, Lola Rose, Jeutonic, Goods and Pauls in the second half of the glitzy extravaganza.

The reaction from the audience was hugely positive with people and a great opening event for Kilkenny Fashion Week which took place in the city last week. All profits from the event go to the Kilkenny/Carlow Homecare Team.
