Two Longford projects feature among 94 new commissions announced by the Arts Council this week.

A new art studio is set to open this weekend in Kilkenny City, with a separate gallery exhibition space soon to follow.

‘An Chead Tine’, a not for profit organisation run by local artists and creatives, will open their new art studio at 10, The Parade, Kilkenny this Saturday, May 6, at 6pm.

Their objective is to offer a city centre studio/work space for visual artists from County Kilkenny.

It is hoped that having this new space will allow more local artists develop and progress in their craft.

An Chead Tine are also currently in talks with Dunnes Stores to utilise the upstairs area of the Kieran Street store as an exhibition space for local artists.

From summer 2023 onwards, An Chead Tine aims to deliver exhibitions, to be announced through open submission calls.
