Kilkenny County Council have begun salting and ploughing Priority 1 and 2 roads around Kilkenny as Storm Emma rages on.
Roads from Ballyragget to Castlecomer and Mullinavat to Listerlin will not be salted this morning due to significant accumulations.
A Status Red alert remains in place until 6pm today in the county.
Footpaths are said to be in a dangerous condition and motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution.

Local & regional roads have significant snow falls reports of up to 8 foot snow drifts. Take extreem caution when traveling.

Water customers asked to conserve water & not leave taps running.
