Kilkenny firefighters called in to help carry children out of flooded schools

Firefighters from Thomastown and Graignamanagh Fire Brigades were called into action this afternoon, assisting with the orderly evacuation of St Colmcille's National School, Inistioge during flooding in the village.

Members of the fire service were also called into action in Scoil Lachtain in Freshford, assisting pupils and staff members in exiting the building due to a high volume of surface water.

In some cases, children had to be carried out to avoid the high waters.
