RTE Tommy Tiernan Show viewers were left in awe after the latest episode of the Meath comedian and actor's chat show. The show is revered for its format which sees Tommy left in the dark as to who his guests are until they emerge on stage.

In Saturday night's episode, Tommy welcomed the Saw Doctors, composer Bill Whelan and comedian Kyla Cobbler to the hot seat and fans were left amazed.

One wrote: "Jaaaaaysus tonight’s episode of the Tommy Tiernan Show would nearly make you consider paying the tv license fee," adding that it was a lot better than its Friday night equivalent, The Late Late Show.

Another viewer said: "Amazes me how Tommy can get such utterly insightful interviews from random everyday people as well as the more well known stars - treating them all equally, with the same level of respect regardless of their stature in society. Adore this show - bravo Tommy."

A third said: "At these times when we can be seriously overwhelmed with nothing but negative news stories, master storyteller
Tommy Tiernan brings an absolute sense of genuine warmth to his interviewing style, that sadly a lot of hosts sorely lack. Can't wait for more."

Another comment read: "There's no doubt Tommy can really do an insightful interview because he’s actually interested in the person he chats to. As much as I'd love to see him host The Late Late Show, really think it would be a waste of his talent as a true master storyteller."

Viewers were particularly happy to see the Saw Doctors on the show. The N17 hitmakers spoke about life on the road and the height of their fame before performing with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

One viewer wrote: "A beautiful interview with Leo and Davy from the Saw Doctors. Heartfelt, funny, and full of nostalgia. Tommy continues to shine," while another described the Galway band as "a national institution."

"If The Saw Doctors had Dublin accents back in the day and not working class Galway ones they would have got the respect they have now off the Irish music establishment and press way earlier," another viewer reckoned.

Another viewer said they were "the soundtrack of so many of us in the 1990s. Great to see a spotlight shone on them."

Composer Bill Whelan spoke about the death of his parents and delivered an emotional interview with Tommy. Viewers were once again bowled over with one describing him as "such a humble, lovely man."

Another added: "You'll never ever get over the death of your parents. It changes your life irrevocably, and if it doesn't you're a psychopath."

On comedian, Kyla Cobbler, one wrote: "Kyla Cobbler quite unique. Straight up and funny."
