Twitter users react after woman's wish to find Irishman she met on a train goes viral

A woman's Twitter post about a meet-cute with an Irish man on a London train has gone viral after thousands of users became interested in reuniting them.

Actress Katharine Pearson posted about the encounter yesterday evening (December 12), stating, "If you were the Irish guy on crutches who works in *biochem?* in Stevenage who was on the Peterborough train from Finsbury Park this morning it was lovely to meet you and I should’ve asked for your name and number so I could live out my Christmas miracle romance moment hahahelp."

Almost nine thousand people liked the tweet (and counting), with over 1,000 retweets and almost two hundred quote tweets, several of which have tagged companies asking if the mysterious man works for them.

One user posted, "C'mon Twitter - let's help her find the boy!" while another said, "OK my biochemistry loving friends - here’s your chance to take part in a Christmas miracle!"

Even Irish comedian Dara O'Briain retweeted the link.

However, Pearson posted again several hours later, stating, "I’m genuinely baffled/obsessed by the commitment to the cause - I’m SCREAMIN people are so invested. This poor man is probably in a relationship like “we spoke for 5 mins on the platform are you ok?""

Despite this, followers and invested strangers alike continued to theorise his possible whereabouts, with one person stating: "Surely an Irish guy on crutches who works in biochem isn't that hard to find?"

Hundreds of people rallied to help Pearson find the man:

And plenty weighed in with their own ideas, theories and suggestions (whether genuine or not!), with some even pledging to keep an eye out:

Others didn't blame her for posting about him, with many declaring a love of Irish men:

And some even thought it was pure movie magic:

Will she find the man of her dreams and live out that Hallmark movie fantasy? Only time (and plenty of hard grafting by Twitter sleuths) will tell!
