The second John Martyn Tribute Festival takes place on September 15 and 16 in Thomastown.
Festival organisers have released a special weekend ticket from today (Thursday) until next Wednesday (September 12), priced at €40.
The limited tickets can be purchased from Rollercoaster Records in Kilkenny and from Carroll’s Bar in Thomastown.
The festival will see a host of stellar acts travel to Thomastown over the weekend to perform with John Martyn’s original band. The line up includes James Yorkston, Cian Finn, Mick Pyro (Republic of Loose), Leslie Dowdall (In Tua Nua), Ultan Conlon, The Man Whom, Kevin Power, Rob Doherty, Deetrich, Mundy, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jacqui McShee, Doug Morter, Philip Donnelly, Chris Campbell, Ben Mac Caoilte. More acts to be announced in the coming weeks.
The John Martyn Tribute Festival takes place in Carroll’s Market Yard, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny on September 15 and 16. There will be plenty of live music around the town over the festival weekend. Gigs on Friday include Then Came The Wheel, Murphys, 8.30pm and Johnny Warren Band, O’Haras Bar, 9pm and Blues Night at the The Bridgebrook Arms at 8.30pm. On the Saturday The John Martyn band featuring Iarla O Lionaird, Ultan Conlon, James Yorkston, Jacqui McShee, The Man Whom, Kevin Power, Rob Doherty, Ben Mac Caoilte and Chris Campbell will perform at Carrolls Market Yard marquee and tickets are priced at €25. There will also be music at The Jerpoint Inn, The Sportsmans Bar and The Salmon Pool and the Thomas O’Donoghue Band will play in Murphys at 10pm. The Johnny Warren Band will take to the stage at O’Haras Bar at 9pm. All gigs are free apart from The John Martyn Band and esteemed guests who are playing in Carrolls bar.
On Sunday, September 16 The John Martyn Band feat Mundy, Miko Pyro, Leslie Dowdall, Doug Morter, Deetrich, Philip Donnelly, Cian Finn and Peter Lloyd will play at Carrolls Market Yard marquee from 3pm. There will also be live music at The Sportsmans from 4pm, at The Salmon Pool from 7pm free and at The Jerpoint Inn from 9pm on September 16.
