SECONDARY students all over Kilkenny are already preparing for the upcoming Kilkenny Secondary Schools’ Talent Competition final, which takes place on Wednesday, November 21.
The concert is in aid of the O’ Neill Centre, Enable Ireland. Martin Bridgeman of KCLR is MC for the evening, while Brendan Corcoran of the Musical Society and John Walsh of KCLR have been confirmed as judges, with one other yet to be finalised.
There will be winners for each of the following categories: Best Male Solo Singer, Best Female Solo Singer, Best Band, and Best Dance Act. Participating schools include Kilkenny CBS, Loreto, St Kieran’s College, Presentation College, Colaiste Pobail Osrai, Grennan College, Castlecomer Community School, Scoil Aireagail Ballyhale, and Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown.
The overall winner will be picked from the winners of these categories and the winning school will receive a digital piano sponsored by Broderick’s Music, Kilkenny.
Last year’s winner was Alan Hayes from St Kieran’s College.
The concert takes place in the Watergate Theatre next Wednesday at 8pm. Tickets are €10/student €5, and are available from the Watergate Theatre on 056-7762674 and all proceeds to Enable Ireland, the O’Neill Centre, Kilkenny.
