GREEN FLAG FOR SCHOOL-Congratulations to the Boys School in their succesfull application for the International Green Flag Award. The pupils from 2nd to 6th classes together with Principal Ms Barron, Ms McMahon and Ms Parker have worked diligently over the past few years to achieve this coveted award with the introduction of a compost bin, a wash and squash campaign and recycling competitions. They also took part in the National Spring Clean week cleaning up around the playground, the Quay the G,A.A. pitch and the Soccer pitch. They are currentlly involved in a new initiave called WOW where the pupils walk to school on Wednesdays.The flag raising ceremony will take place on Friday June 1st with Kilkenny Hurlers Jackie Tyrell and Tommy Walsh doing the honours at 1pm. All are welcome to come along and help the school celebrate. Refreshments will be served.
GOLF CLASSIC- The Graignamanagh Golfing Society will host their annual charity golf classic at Borris Golf Club on Monday next June 4th.As previously the proceeds this year will go to Duiske College to assist transition year pupils prepare for a foundation course at NUI GALWAY;There are3 still a few slots available on the time sheet so if any one would like to enter a team or assist in any way with sponsorship etc. contact Brian Dunne at 087 6413253 or any committe member.
FUN RUN-The big FUN RUN dedicated to the memory of Bairbre Lonergan takes place on Sunday June 4th.Meet at the boathouse at 1.30 and come in fancy dress if you like and walk, runn or crawl and have a great day..Prizes for the best costume and loads of raffle prizes with face painting bouncy castle etc. Plenty of music and entertainment with the KELTIC KATS, PETE FAGAN and numerous guest artists.
LOTTO-Still no winner of the £10,000 jackpot. Last weeks numbers were,15,18,23 and 28. Consolation winners were John Cahill, Edward Holden, Eamon Hoare jnr Syl Cushen and FIDDLE.
CEMETERY MASS-The annual open air Mass at Calvary Cemetery will be celebrated on Friday June 15th at 8pm.To enable people dispose of rubbish etc. barrels from Friday 2nd June to Thursday 14th.Plot holders are requested to make an effort to have the cemetery looking as clean and tidy as possible for the special occasion.
