The group is staging the one-act plays The Ballylooby Players and Joining the Club in The Vaults lounge, Castlecomer at 8.30pm on both nights.
The Ballylooby Players tells the story of an amateur drama group who find themselves in arrears after their latest production. Many different ideas are thrown around at their AGM and we hear of the extreme measures they are willing to go to just to try put a few bob back in the kitty! This hilarious short play features a cast of well-known Deenside Players members Michael ‘Mousey’ Brennan, Michelle Burke, Susan Boland and Michael ‘Midgey’ Dowd. The actors are directed by resident pantomime director John Coogan.
Joining the Club tells the story of a husband and wife who both come home from a bad day at work eager to tell each other something very important which will hugely change their lives. In this play Martina Harding is taking on the role of Jenny and Barry Byrne plays her not-so loving-husband Tom. This play is directed by Sarah Brennan.
