Folk-tinged post punk band Trumpets of Jericho hit Kilkenny this weekend.

The Cork-based group has some local talent in the mix with some former members of acts A Safe Dry Place, Supernova Scotia and Jazz Panda.

Together the this new outfit’s got a busy time ahead. They’re due to record a live 2FM session with Dan Hegarty, will play support to UK post punk legends The Fall in Cork, they’ll perform at Knockanstockan, Castlepalooza and Kilkenny Arts festivals and somewhere in between there’ll be rehersel spots! Support is from Kilkenny native Peter Lawlor, aka Replete.

Working extensively in a wide range of musical practices, his music teeters between songs of ambient chillout tracks to lush chirpy beats. His first live performance was at Electric Picnic 2011. Catch both at their free gig at the Bridgebrook Arms in Thomastown this Saturday from 9pm.
