THE Butler Gallery is currently on the look-out for people aged 16-19 years who are interested in exploring theatre and visual art at this year’s Kilkenny Arts Festival.

With the support of The Arts Council’s Young Ensemble Scheme, Butler Gallery’s Red Square Critics’ Project will once again invite young people from the city and county to come together and discover what’s on offer during the Kilkenny Arts Festival.

Running from August 7-19, the group will work with trained facilitators, developing their ‘critical eye’ while investigating the theatre and visual art strands of the festival. This year, the group will collaborate with the Have Your Say! Critics’ Group for adults, newly formed during the Bealtaine Festival. The Butler Gallery will partner with Barnstorm Theatre, the Young Irish Film Makers and the Galway Arts Festival to make this a truly unforgettable experience.

Anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a member of the Red Square Critics’ Group can contact Bairbre-Ann at bairbre.ann@butlergallery.com or phone 056 7761106. Application forms are available from the Butler Gallery, Barnstorm Theatre, The Drum Youth Centre, Ossory Youth and the Kilkenny County Council Arts Office.

Applications are also available to download from www.butlergallery.com. The closing date for applications is July 20. No previous experience is necessary but curiousity is essential.
