The battle’s on for the title of 2013 Bachelor Girl of the Year.
Set Theatre hosts the contest which takes place this Thursday in a bid to raise cash for local Meals on Wheels and Kilkenny Alzheimer Society.
Organised by Share if You Care and Kilkenny Lions, they’ve arranged for seven girls to take to the stage with MC George Candler who’ll put all through their paces.
Contenders are: Gemma Dowling from Clara, Tina Hoyne from Cuffesgrange, Leasa Byrne from Castlewarren, Lizzie Kavanagh from Radestown, Breda Walsh from Ballyhale, Kilkenny-based Charlie Chaplin from Darwin, Australia. Also in the running is Sinéad De Butléir who previously represented Kilkenny as its Rose in Tralee’s 2011 festival and who won Best Dressed accolade at Ladies Day in Gowran on Sunday.
The winning woman will see a few hundred euro for her charity of choice. These include: St Patrick’s Special School on the Kells Road in Kilkenny, Ballyhale Shamrocks GAA Club, Irish Wheelchair Association, Kilkenny Ladies Rugby inaugural sevens tournament, Brainwave, Chernobyl Children International Kilkenny Outreach Group and the Susie Long Hospice Fund.
Show time’s at the earlier time of 10pm. Admission is €10 and your entry ticket gives you a vote which will be collected during the night, then stay for the club afterwards.
