Violinists, Marie Therese Boland (winner of Senior String Recital competition), Ruth Delahunty (Winner of Junior Recital Competition) and Emma Bergin (Winner of the Under 15 Violin Competition) at the recent Kilkenny Music Festival. These violinists are all pupils of Carl Rochford’s teaching studio and will participate in Master Classes with the virtuoso violinist, Katherine Hunka, leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra, in Castalia Hall, Ballytobin on Sunday, May 11 and is open to the public.
Carl Rochford B Mus, LTCL, Cert ESA, has played with the CSM Symphony Orchestra, French-woods Symphony Orchestra, CSM Baroque Ensemble, Opera South Orchestra, Bernini Ensemble, Hibernian Orchestra, Academos Chamber Orchestra, Waterford Concert Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. He is also a guest lecturer in violin at the University of Limerick.
Carl set up his private violin teaching practice in 2012 in Kilkenny with the aim of teaching violin with a strong emphasis on violin performance. Pupils of Carl’s are given regular concert/recital opportunities and more advanced pupils participate in public Master Classes with international artists each year. Pupils range from the the age of four, to adults and all standards are taught. Last year, Professor Adrian Petcu was the visiting artist. Carl’s violin teaching studio is situated in Ballyragget.
