The National Chamber Choir will perform a concert in Castalia Hall, Ballytobin, Callan on April 21 at 8pm.
Promoted by the Music in Kilkenny concert series, the tour titled “An Irish Colloquy” promises to “open up the notion of a dialogue between pieces by Irish composers but also by non-Irish composers who are connected to Ireland in some way by musical pieces with texts on an Irish theme.”
Their programme will include Tarik O’Regan’s The Spring, Arvo Pärt’s The Deer’s Cry, Nicholas Maw’s Five Irish Songs, excerpts from Piers Hellawell’s Isabella’s Banquet (world premiere), Enda Bates’ Pauper’s Lament/ A Stealing Sadness, David Fennessy’s ChOirland and Frank Corcoran’s Caoineadh.
Tickets cost €15/€10 and can be booked on 056 7761467.
