Mary H HICKEY will host her first solo exhibition at John Cleeres on Parliament Street during Kilkenny Arts Week.
Mary’s experimentation with art began at an early age. Over the years she has been involved in various crafts but her passion lies in painting. She works mainly with oils-very much drawn to the subtle use of light and shadow in her paintings. With a love of drawing and painting she has developed her style and technique and is mainly self taught. She has exhibited successfully during Kilkenny Arts Week for several years, and has also exhibited in Kells and in the Greenacres Gallery in Wexford.
Searching for new methods and new media she has attended respected courses - the abstract art course at the Burren College; the art course at Kilkenny Vocational School and life drawing classes with Helen Comerford in Kells.
She is currently studying art online. Her work can be found in many Irish locations, including Kilkenny Golf Club, St Lukes General Hospital, and as far afield as Singapore, USA and Australia.
