THIS YEAR the Carrick On Suir Musicial Society will present one of Dick Meany’s many pantomimes namely “The Adventures of Old King Cole” which is considered by some to be one of his funniest.
For their 99th production the society are delighted to welcome back Padraig Sheehan to the stage as Old King Cole, how he finds time to be on stage and direct things off stage, is still a mystery! He is however helped by a fabulous new production team of Amy Walsh (choreographer) and Siobhan Grace (musical director). Fergus Power is once again our hilarious Dame as our story follows Old King Cole, his beloved daughter Viola (Nicole Smith) and her charming young love interest Robin (Matt Williams) on a side splitting adventure that takes us to places like Hawaii and believe it or not the Moon! This year’s cast includes familiar faces like Audi Murphy, Louise Mulcahy, Jenny Hogan, Paula O Dwyer and Deckie Robinson along with some newer but no less memorable additions like Bobby Landers and James Dooley. If you add to this a young and talented cast, many from our Academy past and present, the result is a fabulous night’s entertainment full of song, dance and many laughs. And lets face it nowadays we could all do with a laugh!
The show starts this Sunday, (October 21) at 3pm and runs nightly at 7:30pm until the following Sunday (October 28) when there is also a 3pm matinee. Tickets are priced at €12 and €15, with family tickets and group concessions available from our box office in the theatre. To book call 051 645050 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm Monday to Friday.
