Kilkenny band the Freekles are continuing their quest for world domination with their music video entry into the Redbull Bedroom Jam competition.
The national competition sees bands from around the island of Ireland post their videos online in an effort to secure as many votes as possible in a bid to win recording time in a Redbull recording studio somewhere in Europe. Other prizes include live slots at major Irish festivals. The Graignamanagh band competed in an earlier round of voting securing thousands of votes and came fourth thanks to a groundswell of support from fans in Graignamanagh and Thomastown as well as being featured on KCLR by Martin Bridgeman and Edwina Grace. Should the band top the ‘Buzz chart’ which features on the Redbull website this coming Monday (the 9th of April) a Redbull film crew will arrive in the sleepy village of Graignamanagh to record the band playing live on their home turf. The competition buzz chart is based on facebook reposts and video views as well as voting. To vote for the band log onto www.redbullbedroomjam.ie/band/the-freekle or log onto the facebook page at www.facebook.com/thefreekles. The Freekles music video was filmed in Graignamanagh by Mayo born Film maker Joe Dooney who also directs videos for Irish hip hop group Lethal Dialect among others. To date the Freekles have been featured on both National and Regional radio as well as playing gigs extensively around the South East of Ireland.
