PROJECT V is an exciting and innovative new venture designed to stage a theatre production that has been informed by local women’s experience for International Women’s Day 2013.
Through facilitated workshops, Project V will share the stories of women living in Kilkenny using the medium of theatre. Project V will give a voice to the concerns and issues women face while also giving them the opportunity to create new material with the possibility of it being added to an already established piece. Project V is working under the guidance of Barnstorm Theatre’s ‘Incubate’ programme for the duration of seven months.
“We will be working with women living in Kilkenny to explore the themes and issues, such as identity, concepts of beauty and age. We want to create something meaningful and proactive want it to be more inclusive to incorporate a wider community. At the moment we are looking for participants and the closing date is October 20. Our plan is to devise fun workshops and to explore and share matters that women find relevant today like the concepts of beauty and social pressures and listening to the voices of a variety of women.
“This will be followed by writing workshops where new pieces will be created and will be added to the International Women’s Day production and the project will culminate in a production which will be performed to mark International Women’s Day in March 2013.
