The Kilkenny Lions Club does a lot of great work for charity, at this time of year in particular.
In the lead up to Christmas each year they run a variety of events with the aim of gathering enough cash to give to St Vincent de Paul to make up hampers for those in need locally.
Their radio auction on KCLR, with the Kilkenny People, has been successfully running over the past two weeks.
This Thursday the annual schools concert takes place in St Canice’s Cathedral. It’s the 19th year of the event, which gets under way at 7.30pm.
Taking part are the CBS Boys Choir, Kilkenny College junior choir, chamber choir and jazz band, Gaelscoil Osrai choir, St John of God School Choir, St Canice’s Co-ed recorder ensemble and jazz band, Castlecomer Community School Choir, Kilkenny School Project Band and Kilkenny Academy of Music.
Admission is €10 for adults and €4 for children.
