A 25-member ensemble of the National Youth Orchestra will perform tango at Mount Juliet on July 10 during a busy season that sees the orchestra taking its Summer Proms to Waterford, Cork and Dublin.
In its “seated but sizzling” Tango Extravaganza in the surrounds of Mount Juliet, on July 10 at 8pm, the ensemble will musically present the history of tango from the 1900s to present day led by violinist Fionnuala Hunt and featuring exhibition tango dancers.
The orchestra’s Summer Proms will then take place in Waterford’s College Street Chapel on July 20, Cork City Hall on July 21 and Dublin’s National Concert Hall on July 22.
The orchestra is now in its 42nd year, with musicians aged 12-18 who play the full range of symphonic instruments.
Tickets to the Mount Juliet performance cost €30 (€25 concession) and are available from www.mountjuliet.ie or 056 777 3000.
