The Irish Society for Autism was formed with the aim of creating awareness of autism and how convincing the right people that early diagnosis and specified help would improve the quality of life for people with autism. The Soceity is in operation for 45years and it provides vital information for parents, carers, families etc.
The reason this Zumbathon came about is because of a young boy who is 9 years old. Joe is a wonderful little boy, he is so lovable and full of cuddles and hugs! Michelle is Joe’s mum and she has just recently started to come along to my Zumba class in Callan! Joe’s diagnosis has been a long road. It started in preschool where Joe disliked change to his routine or surroundings. He is now in main stream school and he has the assistance of a SNA....Its been a long road for Joe and his parents to get the final diagnosis. Michelle says ‘life is different for them now as a family but with the help and support from the Irish Society for Autism and friends and family it helps them all in so many ways.
I cannot stress enough the need for this essential fundraising for this very worthy cause! So I ask everyone out there please support us in anyway you can!
Tickets are €12 available from myself (Rachel Zumba Nolan) or at reception of Springhill Court Hotel. We also have sponsorship cards so you can raise money and there will be a raffle on the night. A huge thank you to everyone involved, the Irish Society for Autism, my fantastic zumba instructor friends and Michelle Kearney, Madeleine Shea Fitzpatrick, Springhill Court Hotel and all those donating sponsored raffle prizes for the night!!!!!
