A MODERN version of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest is set to be staged in Thomastown’s Jerpoint Abbey this Friday and Saturday at 7pm.
The performances by Duked Productions follows on from their staging of The Colleen Bawn in the venue last year. Duked Productions was set up in 2011 by director Ailish Leavy.
This time round: “It is present-day London. Algernon, Jack, Gwendolen and Cecily are party people. Miss Prism is a little hip. The Rev Chasuble has boundary issues. Lane is a deviant. Cecily is having a fling with Merriman, and Lady Bracknell is more herself than ever.”
After starting their tour tomorrow (Thursday) in Laois, they will bring two performances to Thomastown on Friday and Saturday, then continuing on to the Pearse Museum in Rathfarnam, the French Festival in Portarlington and the Galway Fringe Festival.
Tickets cost €40 and can be booked at 085 7771586.
