Kilkenny’s gearing up for the final of the local secondary schools talent competition.

The Watergate Theatre hosts the event on November 21.

Students from 10 schools will be taking part: Kilkenny CBS, Loreto Secondary School, St Kieran’s College, Presentation Secondary School, Colaiste Pobail Osrai, Grennan College Thomastown, Castlecomer Community School, Scoil Airgeal Ballyhale, Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown and Heywood Community School.

Winners will be chosen in four categories of Best Female Singer, Best Male Singer, Best Band and Best Dance Act and an overall winner will be selected from these.

Last year’s overall winner was Alan Hayes of St Kieran’s College.

MC is KCLR presenter Martin Bridgeman and judges are Aisling Hurley, John Walsh and Brendan Corcoran.

The show starts at 8pm, tickets cost €10 (adults) and €5 (students) and are available from The Watergate Theatre on 056 7761674.

The competition is sponsored by Brodericks Music and all proceeds go to The O’Neill Centre, Kilkenny.
