RENOWNED artist Deborah Donnelly has confirmed that she will be in Kilkenny during Kilkenny Arts Festival this year with her special painting classes for adults where she will teach participants how to paint a cow and how to paint cupcakes.
Deborah is confident that she can teach anyone in a single two-hour workshop how to paint. Her classes will take place at Leydons bar opposite the railway station on Friday evening, August 17 between 6pm – 8pm and on Saturday morning August 18, between 10am – 12noon.
Deborah is convinced there is an artist within everyone just waiting to get out and after every workshop each participant will leave with a beautiful portrait that they have created themselves - proving her point.
Deborah Donnelly is a professional artist and published author. She has been painting for over ten years and her book “How to Paint A Cow” is stocked in all good book shops. Her recently published “How to Paint a Penguin” has just been launched in the Saatchi and Tate Galleries in London. Her work is also exhibited in galleries throughout Ireland, as well as in London and Paris.
Deborah’s highly collectable work graces the walls of art enthusiasts including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Keanu Reeves and many well-known Irish personalities including Pat Kenny, Gráinne Seoige, Louis Walsh and many of the Irish rugby team. Deborah’s passion, beyond painting her own work, is teaching other people how to paint. Believing that every person has untapped creative potential, Deborah is passionate about getting Irish people, of all abilities, painting.
“I truly believe that every person can paint and in these testing times, painting can offer real benefit to those who are stressed out or experiencing anxiety. My classes are designed not just for painting enthusiasts but for those who need a creative outlet in their lives. My motto is “if you have to be blue, why not be bright blue” and this is the ethos I instil in my classes which are fun, interactive and above all relaxing” says Deborah Donnelly. Deborah’s own work will also be hanging in Leydons bar for the weekend of her workshops. The workshop costs €35 and all materials are supplied. For further information see www.deborahdonnelly.com.
