- Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh
Every month the Alliance Française provide a cultural evening for their students and any of the public interested in attending. This month the cultural evening consisted of a concert given by musical duo - Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh in the Club House Hotel.
This was an Indian-Irish combination called Indeceltic which comprises of Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh who met in Kashmir when both were teaching music at the same school.
Anna was born in Dublin of mixed British and Indian parents and was raised in India and Britain. She has lived and worked in a wide variety of countries and performed with a huge range of musicians and has toured extensively. She and Maninder are now living in Ireland and are beginning to perform and build a following here.
Their concert was very well attended, and the audience were delighted to listen to beautiful, harmonious singing from Anna and Maninder of songs from around the world.
The audience enjoyed a highly entertaining performance which included songs from Ireland, Scotland, England, Senegal, Madagascar, India and Kenya. What they had in common was a beautiful melody line and the possibility of harmonious singing.
Anna set the musical tone with sumptuous harp playing and was accompanied on a variety of stringed instruments by Maninder.
Together they harmonised instrumentally and vocally.
The audience was deeply appreciative and really wanted to hear more and gave them a rapturous applause.
It is hoped that Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh will be performing more in local venues. If they do, make sure you don’t miss them.
