Brid Moloney who plays Brenda Barnes in the upcoming show
The New Ross Drama Workshop are looking forward to returning to the stage at St Michael’s Theatre with their production of ‘Same Old Moon’ directed by Kate O’Keeffe.
Brenda Barnes (Brid Moloney) is an aspiring writer. In this autobiographical play we see her life from age nine right through to her forties play out as we meet her colourful family and friends, all of whom have an impact, good and bad, on Brenda’s life.
Helping Brenda Barnes to tell her story are: Her mother Bridie (Nancy Rochford Flynn), her father (Edward Hayden), and her aunt Peace (Jeanette Sidney Kelly).
Other characters that appear include: Mother Superior (Anne Fleming Kelly), Bella Rafferty (Carol Stacey) Café Daphne (Brid Richardson), Mrs. Brown (Sinead Croarkin), Mr. Mullen (Peter O’ Connor), Michael the Postman (Nicky Flynn), Granny Cleary (Carmel Furlong), Kevin (Corin Culleton), and Di (Sarah Byrne)
Known for their professionalism the New Ross Drama Workshop is very much looking forward to staging this popular comedy on the stage of St. Michael’s Theatre.
Speaking to the Kilkenny People Newspaper last week director Kate O’ Keeffe said;
“It has been a big undertaking to combine a large cast, a multi locational set and detailed requirements of lighting and set, but an undertaking that we have richly enjoyed and hope that our loyal and new audiences will enjoy it also. We have worked very hard to ensure the usual high standards of drama production and performance are maintained in this year's play.”
Group Chairperson, Peggy Hussey, continues;
“It’s absolutely magic to see so many people involved in this year’s play, and almost every member of the group is involved either on stage, backstage, with production and in front of house duties, where each fulfils their duties most assiduously. That’s the strength of our group-it’s always an ‘all hands on deck’ effort, working together for a shared goal and vision, a vision this year led by our director Kate O’ Keeffe.
This promises to be a super production with a stellar cast and background team and runs from May 11 to 13 nightly at 8pm.
Tickets, at €15 each, are available from St. Michael’s Theatre box office on 051-421255 or on the theatre website.
